It doesn’t take much for a James Franco Instagram to go viral. The man is always doing something new and interesting, so you can always expect that his social media presence will be the same.
Over the weekend, Franco posted a shirtless picture of himself on Instagram. Normally that’s enough to drive the Franco fanatics crazy, but this one was different. This time, his torso was covered in ink, with a black-and-grey mustachioed devil taking up most of the real estate on his chest and stomach, tattooed suspenders from shoulders to waist, and a bearded devil on each shoulder. “Image is gonna be leaked anyway,” reads the caption on the Instagram. “So here it is first.” You can see the image in the gallery below.
The fake body art is for the new film “The Long Home”—based on the 1999 award-winning novel by William Gay—in which Franco is directing and co-starring. The film continues Franco’s obsession with the rural South—after adapting two of William Faulkner’s novels, 2014’s “The Sound and The Fury” and 2013’s “As I Lay Dying.” “The Long Home” takes place in 1940s Tennessee, and stars Josh Hutcherson from “The Hunger Games” (and “Little Manhattan”), who gets hired to build a honky-tonk by the man who murdered his father a decade earlier. Franco recently worked with Hutcherson in his adaptation of John Steinback’s novel “In Dubious Battle.”
