Today, instead of celebrating the highly controversial holiday known as Columbus Day, many cities around the country have moved on to recognize the Indigenous people and their critical history. Cities such as Austin, TX, Salt Lake City, UT, and Los Angeles, CA have all taken a stand against the history of tyranny and genoise that Christopher Columbus's "discovery" of the Americas represent—instead choosing to highlight the legacy and lives of the Indigenous and First Nations people.
