By a Friend, a Sister, and a Daughter
As an approachable female with a full sleeve, I am frequently asked by strangers and acquaintances what my tattoos mean. This is the question I dread hearing and it’s not for the reason you might think. Many people hate being asked this question because their tattoos don’t have a meaning, which is perfectly valid. However, for me my tattoos are extremely personal and I’ve only told some of my closest friends what the designs represent. I’ve held back sharing what my ink means and what led me to get a sleeve in the first place, but now, with everything going on in the world, I feel obligated to tell my story to the world. Not because it is a remarkably unique story, in fact, it’s the exact opposite. My story has already happened millions of times to women around the globe and unless people who have a voice speak up, our experiences will continue to replicate for years to come. This is my #metoo story and it’s time I opened up about how it has influenced the ink I will wear for the rest of my life.
