Kern is based out of Portland, Oregon, and best known for his colorful, out-of-the-box style combining elements of ornamental tattooing with fantasy and illustrative realism. Today’s tattoo features bright pinks, purples and pale blues highlighted by gold filigree coloring to make a very traditional image stand out and show a softer side. Kern is from a family of tattooers—his twin brother Tim Kern is another famous tattooist—so we expect nothing but the best from James Kern.
